My CPU performance in Task Manager is constantly running between 50 & 100%
of capacity. In checking Processes Running, I find AVSvc.exe is causing
this. I have Norton Firewall/Anti-virus, I have shut off Windows Firewall
and this process continues to consume my CPU, slowing everything down to a
crawl. I can turn this process off, and have done so, but as soon as I
reboot it's back eating away at my system performance. I would appreciate
any help. Thanks RonR

This particular EXE file is often associated with what appears to be an anti-virus program, but its not Norton. This file may reside in C:\Program Files\WinAntiVirus. Norton's AV usually resides in a Symantec or Norton sub directory of Program Files.

Did you recently upgrade or renew your subscription to what you
*thought* was Norton? If this is the case, you were hijacked by
WinAntivirus. This happened to a client of mine. She had a lot of
spyware on her computer, and when it came time to renew her Norton
subscription, she got a popup notice on her screen for renewal - with
the same color scheme as Norton but in reality coming from this
WinAntivirus that does nothing except take your money and wreck your
computer. She was able to stop payment because she was extremely
insistent. I expect the fact that she works for a law firm helped.

Please look into this and if so, get your money back, remove
WinAntivirus and update the real Norton.
