Hello
Just upgraded from Win ME to Win XP Pro.
I have two physical disks in my system; disk 0 and disk 1

I used partioning software to split disk 0 into two partiions; winME resides
on "C" and win XP Pro installed on "E". Oddly enough, "E" is the second
partion on disk 0; "D" is the other disk drive.

I can dual boot into either ME or XP

Originally, I thought that when XP booted, it would think it had the "C"
drive. But apparently it's on the "E" drive.
Once I'm sure that I've got everything I need from ME, I had planned to
eliminate the ME partion, expand the XP partition and convert it to NTFS
[from FAT32]

Now, I'm kind of wondering if XP will be happy with this.
I wonder if I would have to do something as drastic as remove XP, copy the
original Win ME partion to "E", and then re-install XP on what it thinks is
the "C" drive?

Has anyone ever dealt with this and can you offer some suggestiosn?

Thanks

The only way to have XP on C and Me on D or E, is to use boot management
software.
You can move XP to C, but it is not advisable or practical. When you decided
to remove Me, you will need to remove it from the C drive and leave XP in
it's current location on E. You will need to leave the hidden boot files on
the C drive. The link below will step you through the finer points of
removing a dual boot.
