hi, i recently installed a massive amount of windows
updates and now my computer freezes randomly. the
failures are usually associated with downloads, but i cant
be certain thats all that causes them. when the computer
does freeze, it is a complete and total freeze. the
cursor does not move, the monitor continues to refresh the
same frozen image (i know this because if i turn the
monitor off, then on again, i get the same picture rather
than a "no signal from pc" message), ctrl+alt+delete has
no effect, and in the case of downloading, the traffic
light on my network card stays off and registers no
traffic. i know my problem is correlated with a windows
update, because it was runnign fine until that point. i
downloaded about 51 mbs worth of required updates, so it
will be a chore to pinpoint the specific update causing
the problem. if anyone has had a similar problem and
knows of a solution, it would be of great help to me. im
running 256 mbs sdram, 1 ghz athlon, xp pro. ill try to
help by adding any more information as it comes along.
thanks in advance

Mate I am getting the same thing after 10-15 mins and
after having downloaded about the same amount of updates
and have XP SP1..everything just stops....cursor sits
there..on the net or off....

I wish I would offer an explanation but have been
troubleshooting everything for 3 weeks now....i want to
find out what it is rather than a complete reinstall yet.
(im curious)...i have all current drivers and every xp
update....

Have you checked event viewer under control
panel?....Mine is showing that the Tcp/ip and W32 time
synchronizing as disconnecting just before every lockup...

its got me buggered and i have posted on newgroups but
get no replies...

morry
