XP Pro forgets security settings after logoff or reboot

I have a Windows XP machine running on a domain. I have added a domain
user account to the local admin group on the local computer managment
and I have added the user to a AD group on the server which grants
local admin rights but afer logging off or rebooting it removes the
admin rights.

Also if you set the users theme to Classic, after rebooting it reverts
to the default Luna theme.

Are you perhaps using restricted groups? Run rsop.msc and look for settings.

Do this via group policy....it's a lot easier.
after rebooting it reverts
to the default Luna theme.

Check your event logs.
