I recently used "Windows Movie Maker" to transfer files from a DV camera to
my PC.
Since then, Explorer and IE take about 3 minutes to invoke; I get the
"searching" icon in Explorer and it appears it cannot determine my system
hardware configuration.
I shut the system down, and did a selective startup by disabling all startup
items and all non-Microsoft services - the problem remained.
I then did another selective startup also disabling all Microsoft services,
and Explorer works fine.
Points to a Microsoft service failure - any ideas how I'd resolve with
re-installing XP Pro (AGAIN !!!) ?
