Hello,
I just installed a second hard drive, Seagate 300GB ST3300631A. Bios
reconizes it, and WinXP device manager reconizes it, but will not format past
137GB Ultra ATA/100. I have SP2 installed and registry is set for large
drives?? What am I missing. Other drives in system are 180GB.

Thanks JR

Maybe you installed SP2 after you formatted it hence you formatted it
with - say - Win XP pre SP1. I think Win XP (pre SP1) doesn't format
past 137GB. MAybe SP1 doesn't evne do it either.

Now you have SP2 installed, you should surely be able to run partition
magic and resize the partition to more than 137GB

apparently the 137GB limit can be a HW barrier or a SW barrier or both.
I tihnk A HW barrier is less likely nowadays.
