XP Pro crashed, recovery console question

After choosing "R" from the "Welcome to Setup" screen, it doesn't give a
choice of operating systems to choose from; just a C: prompt.

I was going to attempt a repair from the recovery console as described by
Charlie White in one of his articles.

The system crashed, and would not reboot from even the safe mode.

Any advise as to why I'm just getting a c: prompt and not a "list of
choices?" Or any advise of how to proceed would be appreciated.

Usually you get 1 for disk C:,but if not available youre windows OS is
probably
corrupted,at recovery, just type in the cmd, forget what youre viewing at
entrance
screen....

Hi Andrew,

Corrupted probably. I'm assuming that you want me to type "cmd" at the c:
prompt.
Other than the list of help switches, I've been getting an "access denied"
message.

I'll give that a try when I get to the computer in a little while.

Thanks,

Metro

Hi Wesley,

I'm printing out the information to read and reread to make sure I haven't
missed anything. Thanks for responding. I'll post after I try again.

Hi Metro Mike,

Also keep in mind:

For a list of commands that are available in Recovery Console, type recovery
console commands or help at the command prompt, and then press ENTER.

commandname /? Displays help at the command prompt for whatever
commandname. I.e

attrib /?

MKDIR /?
