Recently I installed XP Pro sp1 with a problem free
install. When I restarted my computer later that day it
loads to the black XP "loading" screen and suddenly
restarts. It does this repeatedly and will not start up
in Safe Mode or any other Safe Mode available, it just
continously restarts. At one point I received a stop
error "0x0000008e" once and have never saw it
again...please help...

Sounds like you may have a defective memory location - if you have two banks
of RAM chips, try moving them around and see if the problem goes away (if it
does you need to buy one new memory bank).

I've seen quite a similar issue. I installed SP2 on my XP
pro machine last night. Now I get a 'Winlogon.exe
application error' and the machine continously reboots,
same issue will all the Safe Mode boot options.

As an added amount of info, I tried referencing some info
from a search on the knowledge base but due to the fact I
cannot run Safe Mode I have no way of trying the option.
Anyone have any ideas as to what is keeping me from
running Safe mode? I had ME on my computer prior to the
XP upgrade, is there anyway I can roll it back to that
without causing major damage to my file base?
