Every few days or so, one specific user on an XP Pro
workstation can't run an application that uses a Pervasive
2000i database on a Novell 5.1 server if they log back in
at any time after having logged off from their workstation.
The problem has been recreated once using their credentials
on another XP machine, but it doesn't happen at all using
their credentials from a 98,NT4, or 2000 workstation; and
it doesn't happen at all using anyone elses' credentials.
The application's process is shown as running in task
manager, but the app. never starts completely. You can't
use the "Run as" feature to run the app. as another user
while logged in with this person's credentials, but if you
log out, then log back in as a different user, it will let
you run the app. about 90% of the time.

Hello Steve,

You may be experiencing any of the following, please review these and see
if they help -

1. You may need an updated Novell client on your system. Here are a
couple of items listed on Novell's site regarding application problems
connecting to Novell servers -

http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/search/searchtid.cgi?/10072805.htm

http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/search/searchtid.cgi?/10054917.htm

Here is the most recent client -

http://support.novell.com/filefinder/18193/index.html

2. You may need to update your redirector components for Windows XP, here
is a link to the most recent public update -

Make sure you are Windows XP sp1 with all critical updates installed from
Windows Update and install the rollup.

826939 Update Rollup 1 for Windows XP Is Available
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=826939

3. The next step after that would be to backup and delete the user's
profile as it appears to be only occuring to the one user.

Best regards,
