Synopsis: XP Pro's Windows Explorer crashes if dragging an item to a
shortcut of an unreachable network shared folder

my setup: simply two computers both connected to SMC router. #1 is on and #2
is turned off. on #1's desktop i created a short cut to a shared folder on
#2.

If I accidentally drag an item and drop to the shortcut, it freezes my
desktop. The Drag process becomes not responding. If i end the process the
Windows explorer crashes.

I've never seen this, but I've never tried it, either. That said, what SP on
XP? What do you see in your event logs? I also have to ask how often this
could possibly happen accidentally....

I have to ask - why would you do it?
