XP Pro - Boot Problems

Windows won't start after turning on computer - message
comes up stating: "We apologize for the inconvenience,
but Windows did not start successfully. A recent HW or
SW change might have caused this." Then there are
several choices: 1) Safe Mode; 2) Safe Mode
w/networking; 3)Safe Mode with Command Prompt; 4)Last
known good configuration; 5)Start Windows normally.
There is a 30 second time limit that counts down to 0,
then computer freezes. Computer freezes even when make
a choice. HELP!!! Virus???
Changed BIOS to try booting from XP CD - unsuccessful -
went back to same screen listed above. Any other
suggestions? HELP!!!!
 
Asked and answered already. Please do not post the same question multiple
times only minutes apart. You should wait up to 1-2 days before posting
again. Sometimes it takes minutes, sometimes hours, sometimes days before
you get a reply.

It sounds like you didn't get the search order right eg CD first?

My bios has the option to display the startup sequence so you can see it
looking for the boot record from each device in turn.
