Bios is set to boot from CD first but I don't get the option to boot from CD
when starting WIN. Could it be because I have a CD changer and a DVD burner?

thnx

First thing to do is make sure that you have a bootable CD in the Drive.
The type of drive you are using should have no bearing on whether it will
boot or not. I f there is no bootable CD in the drive, you will not be
prompted.

On that note, is there any easy way to make a non-bootable XP disk bootable?
I've found a few sites but none of their files worked for me, I spent ALL
day trying to get XP installed today (finally succeeded), I was VERY fed up
with having to swap 6 disks just to be able to access the setup on the XP
CD...

What Windows XP CD is not bootable?
All retail Windows XP CDs are bootable.
And most if not all OEM Windows XP CDs are bootable.

Ditto what Jupiter says,

I'm sure you have tried both CD/DVD drives. I have that problem only when a
CD player is not tracking correctly.
