I am trying to set up a Backup in an XP Pro environment.

After selecting my CD-R drive as the backup destination,
I get a message :-
The backup file could not be used

"E:\Backup.bkf"

Please ensure it is a valid path, and that you have
sufficient access

I can drag and drop files to the CD-R drive successfully.

I have read a little about media pools, but do not
understand the principal yet and whether this is the
cause of my problem

Can any one help please

Roger,

You cannot backup directly to CD-R.

Thanks Shenan

This seems like a backward step as I used to be able to
use Backup to back up direct to CR-R on Windows 98SE

Yes, you may have - but not with built in Windows 98 software.
You were using a third-party utility if you did it.
DirectCD, etc.. possibly.
