I have XP Pro SP1. I've created a job and scheduled it with the included
backup program. The task scheduler service is up and running yet the job
never gets processed (works fine in interactive mode when I run it
manually). My computer is on when the job is supposed to run, no one is
using it and all it has to do is log in (I even have the settings enabled to
wake from sleep to run the job). I entered my username and account password
(I have admin privledges) when I first scheduled the task. The task manager
service is set to use Local Account when I examined the properties in Admin
Tools/Computer Management.

This website seems to describe exactly my problem but since it is likely
something very simple I can't see paying them a fee for some one-time
information at this point.

Any help is appreciated.

My only idea is that perhaps the administrator account is passworded A
prerequisite of having scheduled tasks run at all and often overlooked
as it is not something
that is clearly pointed out in Help and Support.

Help and Support also mentions that the task scheduler service must be
running before and while you create the scheduled backup task. So
check
the status of that service using Start Run services.msc beforehand
