I have had approximately 65% of attachments from me and
to me blocked by XP, including business correspondence.
Is there any answer for aol and other mail providers
where I have more info (other that may cause harmful
viruses) to determine whether I should open blocked
attachments?

Try this (but be aware that it may allow a virus to get through):

In Outlook Express, click on Tools / Options / Security. Then uncheck the
4th item down.

Hi

AOL are an entity that uses it's own devious browser and no doubt its own mail 'device'. Otherwise - in OE - Tools>Options>Security - uncheck 'Do not allow attachments to be saved...'. If you do uncheck this option, please virus check all attachments that you may receive before opening them.

Greetings --

Outlook Express' default security settings are simply trying to
protect you. OE has no way of telling whether an attachment actually
contains a virus or not, so it temporarily blocks any of those file
types that could potentially contain a virus. In Outlook Express,
Tools > Options > Security, uncheck the "Do not allow attachments to
be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus" option, assuming
you trust the source, of course. The wiser course of action, however,
would be to modify your list of unsafe files, as outlined in the KB
articles below:
