I am trying to fix/cleanup a computer with XP Pro that
had several viruses on it. I was able to activate it
online and download the windows updates and virus
definitions to "clean up" the system. The problem is
that every time I reboot it requires me to activate
Windows. I have done this several times and it always
wants activation at bootup.

Anyone have any ideas on what to look for? Thanks in
advance.

Possible solution:

Boot into "Safe Mode" by pressing F8 during the boot cycle.

Go to Start > Run and type: regsvr32 regwizc.dll , and hit enter.
Then go again to Start > Run and type: regsvr32 licdll.dll , and hit enter again.

Apparently, and I can't say how, the above files became unregistered.

Carey,

Thanks for the replay. Unfortunately that did not work.
I will search some more and look at the link you posted.
