xp - prints smiley faces

Recently upgraded my desktop to xp home and the connected
printer: HP Photo 1115 prints (1) one smiley face not
like :) but, a character/symbol in the top left corner of
the page without me trying to print anything at all, it
just periodically prints a smiley face. I may not even be
near the computer and it prints a smiley face randomly, no
rhyme or reason why. Its waisting a lot of paper!!! HP has
no idea why....
Any ideas????????????

Hello Melissa,
this happened to me too..plus it was printing lots of other stuff...at
random
I moved the Printers folder and replaced it with an empty PRINTERS folder
C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS
and all OK now so I deleteed the original folder which i think was corrupted
or filled up with too many diagnostic print jobs??
