I'm getting a new computer with XP and an 80 MB hard drive. I'd like
to partition it. What do you think would be a good size for the C
drive? How much space does XP take up approximately?

Also, anyone have any experience with Partition Magic? I've heard
some complaints about it and XP but I was going to get 8.0, the latest
version. Is it easy to use?

I partitioned XP pro on a 5gb slice and it fit nicely with just enough
room for the errant extra file or two... I wouldn't go anywhere
without Partition magic....it is powerful and that is how people screw
up with it...it's a small learning curve getting started. I might
suggest that since the PC is new...you reload XP from the recovery disk
and set your C partition then...before you load it up. It's much
easier that way and then you may not even need partition magic.

Just my $.02...

Partition Magic works great, and simple.
I usualy use a 10 gig partition for Windows-XP Pro. But a full install, with
SP1 etc, mmhh, about 3 gig should be enough. ( including drivers etc. )
But around 10 you have enough space for all of it, and on the other
partitions you can put the games, data etc.

But you can partition the disk when installing XP, verry easy. ( ps use the
NTFS system, works great, especialy with the larger HDD's )

Best of luck to ya.

Shaggy.
