I had Win98 and upgraded to WinXP. I had a virus and could not start Windows
at all. It just kept rebooting to the username screen. I put in the xp
upgrade disk to reinstall. I tried REPAIR but it wanted a password and it
did not recognize mine. So I chose INSTALL. It said I would loose all my
files, which it did. Everything works fine now except I have a 19 gig HD
and it is showing that I have used 11Gig. I don't have anything on the
computer yet. It is possible that my old WinXp and programs and files (and
virus) are on the HD and I cannot see them? If yes how do I get rid of them?
Thanks
Raven

Boot to xp cd,recovery, press the enter key for password (whenever prompted
and none exist),at cmd screen type:DiskPart In DiskPart delete the unwanted
partition(s),then you can create one, then press ESC Back in cmd, type:EXIT
Or type:FORMAT C: /FS:ntfs After it formats type:EXIT It should then set up
xp installation.

Hey idiot! He can do that through disk management without having to jump through hoops using the Recovery Console!

You give absolutely no help here at all, other than wrong advice!
