XP over ME

I struggle on ME at the moment and have totally lost PC
Health (don't let's go into that now).

Hubby has just bought me the XP upgrade. I've not taken
the shrink wrap off yet.

I need to know what problems, if any I'm likely to incur.

Please tell me that it won't clean install and wipe all of
my files. I've no cd writer and can't easily back things
up. It would be nice if it would transfer my files over.
Am I hoping for too much?

Believe me, I know EXACTLY what you are talking about
with Win ME -- I was in the same situation with my wife's
PC a short while ago... ME got to the point that it was
locking up/rebooting almost on a daily basis.

My best advice is to start the upgrade and stare at the
preliminary report that gets produced warning you of
concerns -- keep going ONLY if none of the beefs are
important to you, else quit the install and follow-up
with SW/HW vendors that are mentioned, since some may not
have XP drivers/compatibility... or even a "corporate
existence" -- then decide. Whatever, if you do do it,
make sure you convert the file system to NTFS -- as long
as you are sure about doing it (a "one-way street")...
beats the "WPA hassle" of doing it post-conversion.
