XP Operating System Not Recognized

My system is a Gateway that runs XP. I went to Microsoft to check for updates
and got the message below:

Thank you for your interest in obtaining updates from our site.

This website is designed to work with Microsoft Windows operating systems
only.

To find updates for Microsoft products that are designed for Macintosh
operating systems, please visit http://www.microsoft.com/mac/.

This is a new occurrence. What can I do to fix it.

you for your interest in obtaining updates from our site" (wrong OS
identification)

Think again. <eg>

Using the web-interface, open a Reply window then click on Advanced Options.
