It can be made to work. However, after installing XP you'll want to
turn off/disable "Eye Candy", Use Classic Theme and not use Fast
User Switching. That model only supports up to 256 Megabytes &
if the unit only has 128 Megabytes I'd defer from trying to use XP.
A single 128 module will cost ~$50-70, so it's probably not worth
the expense on a 400-Mhz notebook to take the memory count up
to full capacity. If you do proceed, you'll need to get the last BIOS
flash update to allow ACPI compliancy - or do an F5 at install time
and manually select a "Standard PC" HAL. XP on that Dell should
handle Office, browsing and the like but do not expect to be able
to do any kind of gaming as the video is fairly obsolete by today's
standards. Also battery life is "Poor", you'll most likely need to run
the Latitude on the AC/DC, especially if you use any PC cards in it.
