I installed Windows XP home edition on my laptop, but did
not activate it. I activated the XP on my desktop, now I
want to install Windows 98 operating system on the laptop.
Since the 30 day trial period has ended, XP will not open
to allow me access to "my computer". How do I get the
installation program for the new operating system to run ?

Even if you could login you cannot install Windows 98 from inside Windows
XP.
If your Windows 98 CD is not bootable - you will need to get a boot disk
from somewhere to boot your PC - remove the Window XP partition, repartition
you drive, format it, and have access to your CD drive. You will then be
able to run setup form there.
