I have a satellite pro 6100, p4 1.7 running xp pro.

I had a problem and had to format and reinstall windows
using my manufacturers restore cd which installs a clean
copy of xp.
Everything works ok except that windows no longer
recognizes any digital camera i plug in via usb. I have a
kodak dx3600, which prior to the reinstall, when plugged
into a usb port, windows immediately recognized it as a
plug and play digital camera, and would launch the camera
wizzard, in addition to installing an icon for the camera
in "my computer"

Now, when i plug the camera in , the "new hardware"
wizzard shows up, tries to find a driver, cant, and will
not recognize the camera. There are no drivers for this
camera, it is plug and play, but windows will no longer
see it as such. Please provide some solutions. Thanks

Hi;
No "if's or but's": You need drivers for the cam.

If you did not get a separate CD or floppy it simply means that they are all
on the "Restore".
They are not installed until needed.
****************
Unplug the camera from the USB cable.
Turn off the pc.
Put the provided "restore cd" in CD drive.
Turn on
Plug the cam to the cable.
Get XP to automatically search for the drivers when the new (unknown then)
device is detected splash appears.
Guide XP to or include the CD drive in the search locations.
Let us know.

well, if and but because there are no drivers for the
kodak dx3600, i never needed them, and when i connect
this camera to 25 other computers, all 25 immediately
recognize it as a digital camera, and display its icon in
my computer.
i spoke with kodak, there are no drivers, not neccesary,
its plug and play and windows should recognize it right
away. It always did until i reinstalled windows.
thanks

Mikey,
Are you suggesting that Joe re-install the native WIN XP drivers that
support the camera?
As Joe points out, there are no vendor supplied drivers.
(I am also having the problem Joe is having, which is why I am asking.)
Thanks,
Dave

Best thing, as far as I know, is to use the device manager
to remove devices that are malfunctioning and let them
re-install.
