How can I eliminate the text/info that pops up whenever I run my mouse
pointer over an icon? I know wht the calculator icon on my task bar does and
is. I don't want a message to show evertime I pass over the icons.

Thank you,
Kay

Good try Wesley, but I am not making it clear what the challenge is. On my
Task Bar I have shortcut icons that require 1 click to go to the target.
When I move the pointer over say the Internet Explorer icon a small text
message pops up and says: Launch Internet Explorer Browser; and is has a
single black line border around the message.

I want to eliminate those messages.

On my Task Bar I have shortcut icons

It's called the Quick Launch toolbar on the Taskbar. Or just Quick Launch.

There are some machines, like my own, where the balloon tips CANNOT be
removed.

My personal favorite is: "Click here to begin"

Thank you for your effort; nothing yet has worked. If I can find an answer I
will post to you.
