i have purchased a laptop and am somewhat dissatisfied
with the bumf that my supplier has added to my system. is
there a way to get hold of an xp software disk from
microsoft so i can load windows without the bumf on it. i
have heard on the grapevine that you can. i just cant
find a way to do it. obviously i will have to use my
laptop licence to get it to activate. can anyone help
please.

You likely have an OEM version of Windows XP. This version is not supported by Microsoft. Your only options are to deal with the vendor or purchase a new retail copy.
