From time to time my machine seems to 'loose' it's Internet
connection. If I'm in a browser I get a popup that offers "Web page
not available offline, connect". I click on connect and all is well.
Sometimes, I'll get a popup that offers to dial a connection (I
normally connect through a high speed local network.

Several questions:

1) Can I arrange so that this never happens? How? BTW, never dial is
checked already!

2) Can I detect the event? I frequently run an application that
automates IE. When this occurs the application doesn't work. If I
can detect the event, and 'click' connect then the application can
recover.

Thanks for any clues.

I'm having the same problem but a little different. It
keeps popping up that the connection is lost and then gets
reconnected. I have the network card hooked into a
Motorola 5200 cable modem. I changed cards and still the
same thing. I contacted Motorola and they said it was
becuase of Windows XP operating system and not to worry
about it.

My issue is a bit more difficult in that I'm driving IE via com
automation. The application runs 24x7 so when this happens bad things
occur. If I can't stop it, I need to detect it and then "press
connect" since the connection is in fact alive.

Any clues on how to detect programatically and/or "press connect" to
reconnect the network?
