Mel

Last week I bought a new PC, 2.8ghz 160hd 1024Ram.

I installed Windows XP Home from my disk. Worked fine,
however then i put in a new graphics card *Gforce* not
realising there was one already built into the bother
board, so therefore it caused a clash and the OS became
very unstable I then removed XP, and formatted the disk
with windows 98 boot disk, have removed the new graphics
Card, and currently on Windows 98 at the moment, however I
read on a search engine result that 98 does not like that
amount of ram and the maximum it can cope with is 512 or
something. I then put in my XP Home disk again to install
it, and I get the following error:

http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0RAARA3IUlbz0x8GmpF4B7SWa3Xml
HrtzzIskz!Ds1gtswmVrCgWlU4*CIfx!Ew!
XJyT2ZZ5FTJCzjJVRibUKFJNKgB1ghzp6e2wDPIWLrGM/SYS.bmp

Sometimes it comes up with different files like:
ql10wnt.sy
ql1280.sy
ramdisk.sy

I have tried installing it from boot up and all it comes
up with is ql1240.sy is corrupt. press a key to restart
your computer. Its not having any of it, I dont understand
how it suddenly refuses to work, seeing as it installed
fine a week or so ago?

Oh the disk is XP Home Edition Full retail.
Thankyou in advance if anyone could shed some light on the
subject.

Mel, is your Cdrom the first boot device in the Bios. If yes, Use Fdisk
from the Win98 bootdisk and delete all the
partitions. Use the XP Cd to recreate and format a new partition(s). Just
use half the ram for the install.

Okey rich

Thankyou for your reply, I have tried fdisk with 98 but I
also let 98 format the partition also maybe thats what I
am doing wrong :( I will give it a go and let you know.

Cheers
