Hello, trying to install XP for the first time on a new pc... Went through
formating the hard drive and copying the files just fine, then the computer
restarted when it was done, but it goes back to the screen I had before
installing XP, except at the very bottom it says 'Disk Read Error Occured',
and so I can't seem to get to the GUI, putting in the xp disc again just
made it try to install the whole thing again.. What am I doing wrong? Using
an ASUS A8N Sli-Deluxe

Have two SATA hd's... Set them up in RAID 0. Plugged into the SATA slots on
my mobo and it recognized them both, set them up in raid and now in normal
bios they don't show up on the main screen(before it had SATA 1 Master 0,
SATA 2 Master 0, etc up to 4, now it only has 2 slots, empty if it has
anything to do with it, but Windows must have recognized them because it went
through formating and everything..)

What kind of hard drive controller is in your box (ATA, SATA, SCSI, etc.)?

Ran into this same exact problem with my ASUS A8N. After much
troubleshooting found the problem. Check you SATA Raid controller. DO NOT
USE the Via controller for your boot Raid controller! The drivers for this
controller are untested. When I switched over to the Promise controller and
configured for SATA (and later for Raid 0) the install goes correctly. Turns
out the Via controllers are only good for additional SATA drives, beyond the
boot drive.
