File name: WOWEXEC.EX_ in folder: C:\WINDOWS\I386
File name: wowexec.exe in folder: C:\WINDOWS\system32

Type: Adware

Name: not available
Version: 1.00
Publisher: Quadrogram, LLC
Systems Affected: Windows 2000, Windows 95, Windows 98,
Windows NT, Windows XP
Systems Not Affected: Linux, Macintosh, UNIX, Windows 3.x

Questions: (1) Can these be safely deleted without
crashing my pc?
(2) Why does MS install these with this OS?

Hello Scott,

Wowexec.exe is a program that allows 16bit programs to run on your Windows
XP system.

I am not sure what is listing it as Adware, but if you locate the file in
your Windows\System32 directory you can right click and choose properties
on the file. Click on the version and it should say that the company is
Microsoft.
