once i have installed xp pro and it has rebooted , and then filled in the
user details at the welcome and setup section, i then reboot only to find
that it has not saved the data and takes me back to the same welcome setup
section. how can this be ? it ws a clean install . it just seems to be
resetting itself every time , leaving me at this last stage of setup . please
help.

Hey Marc
To perfrom a clean installation we need to boot from the cd
The correct procedure or the screen shots of the windows installation are
shown beautifuly in the website
www.windowreinstall.com
also check the art 316941 on how to install windows xp
You may also need to configure the Bios to boot of the cd
good luck
if you need more help pl write to (e-mail address removed)

yes but what i mean is that xp has installed. however
upon first use of the pc (once the cd has done its work)
you are told welcome and it asks you to enter a user name
and takes you on the tour etc...however after this every
time i power up i am back to the start of this first time
use welcome part.it doesnt save the input somehow,as if
it resets or something. or do you mean that my bios
should be setup to boot from cd anyway and then hard
drive? thanks.
