Xp installation and do fast

hi
i am network professional in an organization we have 1500 pcs having
different O.S our head laptop p4 toshiba cd rom is faulty now we have to
reinstall windows xp how we an do it ....
other Q is that how i can fast his windows xp

If windows is broken on the Notebook you will have to replace the
optical drive to get the OS up again, and unless you keep images of
your machines for quick reinstalls, you will have to do it the
"hard" way.

Thanks for reply we made images of those machine(labs) which have same
configuration of hardware but our head has note book and different nic card
machine configuration ..............................................
can i do installtion of winxp with out cd rom .
my other Q was how i can make infected systems fast

With a network of 1500 pcs, i would assume you have servers. You can do a
network install of xp. You can also purchace for a relatively cheat price
and external cd drive, and install that way. Might have to make some changes
in the bios dealing with boot orrder, but i have do both.
depending on what u used to make rhe images, some programs do support the
installation of images even with different configuration and hardware (as
long as it is not that dranstically different).

I realise English isn't your 1st language, but sorry from the
information supplied I am unable to understand what it is you want .
Are you wanting to clean virus infected machines as well as fix the
Toshiba Notebook?

To fix the Notebook you have to either
install XP from a CD via it's optical drive
from an image on a CD again using an optical drive
from the network via an image on a server

Which method is available only you know I guess ?

yes ur right english is not my first language
We intstall windows in our organization through norten ghost software means
first we creat an image of systems and then deploy .....ok
but these images of systems are not for heads system bz they didnt need
such softwares which r install through norten
but Q is that my head having laptop of toshiba ,his cd room is not working
we didnt have an image of his system in our network, so we cannot install
through image or network ...
so is there is any way to install windows xp in his system without using cd
rom
if i attach external usb combo drive in his system but the q is how i can
boot it bz usb is not bootable
Q2 how i can secure my network client pcs through viruses as we having
symantec antivirus installed in our server and signature is alo updated
but we still have viruese in our network
kindly give me ans

Question 1 - Fix the cd drive on the Toshiba. You will waste more money
in man-hours screwing around with this than if you simply buy a
replacement drive. Then clean-install Windows for your boss and image
the system for future use.

Question 2 - If you have viruses in your network, you will need to take
the network down and clean up all the machines, including the server.
There is no viable shortcut to this. Then discover how your network got
infected and take steps to set it up properly so it doesn't happen
again.

If you can't set the laptop to boot from an external CD then you may have to
replace the original dirve with a functioning one. There are other methods,
you can boot from a floppy and install from a network share. As for the
antivirus - if you have 1500 pc's then start phoning the antivirus vedors.
They want your business and will help you. You need a network solution which
includes servers and clients. You then need someone to monitor the system to
see how the viruses are getting into your network and figure out how to stop
it. If it's via email most antivirus vendors have solutions. Sybari Antigen
(recently bought by Microsoft) is excellent for scanning email but only
works at the server level. You would still need a solution for the clients.
All of the antivirus vendors have decent client solutions. If the viruses
are coming in by users bringing in floppy disks, flash drives, etc. then you
will need to set a company policy and enforce it.
 
If your notebook as the option to boot from a USB device in the BIOS that
might work for your USB CDROM. In all honesty though, it might be quicker to
simply grab another working CD Drive from another notebook.

As far as the viruses on the network go, it sounds like your end users need
some serious training and your network security needs tightened. I know it's
a laborious process but I would go to each machine and make sure the
antivirus software is up to date and scanning as it should. If it's up to
date working correctly you shouldn't be having virus issues on the network.
Make sure the end users know not to trust any attachments they don't
expect-even if it's from a friend, relative, spouse, etc.
