Just built up a computer, everything went fine till I had 39 minutes
remaining in seting up windows.

My configuration is as follows:
Shuttle SB75G2 Case/mobo/PSU
P4 2.6 800 FSB
Plextor PX 708A
Maxtor 250 ultra
Radion All in wonder 9600
2x512 crucial Twin X memory
Aopen FM56-svv Fax Modem

All new parts....
no errors pop up, the little green progress squares keep moving, but
it does not move onto the next step and just mocks me with a slide
show toughting XP's wonderful new features...

I reformat, I repetition, I rip out hair....
Nothing has worked.

Any Ideas??? please help.

I'd simplify. Disconnect everything but the motherboard, RAM, HD and video
card and see if it'll install. IF it does, then install one additional item
at a time and boot. If it doesn't then you only have 4 problems to check
out (maybe 5 if you include the power supply) rather than a full box's
worth.

If the slide show is changing, the install is still in progress! Wait a
while. The 39 minutes is only an "estimate". I have seen it take 1 hour to
complete.

Usually when an MS operating system fails to install, it is because of
bad hardware. Try installing with only the absolute barebones:
motherboard, RAM, video card, cd drive. Leave off everything else. If
the installation succeeds, then add in your sound and modem. If the
installation fails, then start some hardware diagnostics - start with
the RAM (I like Memtest86 from www.memtest86.com). Let the test run for
an extended period of time (unless you see errors immediately). If the
RAM is good, test the hard drive. It doesn't matter that the parts are
new - it is most common for new parts to fail right away, if they are
going to fail at all.

Good luck,

Malke
