Hi, I am having a nightmare reinstalling my XP pro system. I believe that my
genuine XP disc is damaged, I had made a mirror image on to a RW cd, but I
get the same (almost) errors on installation. I have been able to install
windows but upon the install (save settings section) I got an error message
cant load/copy? icfgnt.dll. I've ran s.f.c. upon completion of the install,
then ran a check disc. Check disc produces an error of "line 10064
unreadable", then later on shuts down.
I have 2 questions, can I repair the installation I have, the other question
is can I get the xp pro cd replaced. I do have another OEM XP Pro cd for my
laptop, could that be of any use?
Thanks in anticipation.

Wow, thanks for that. I will have a go with the recovery console, I did try
and repair with the recover console from setup: "repair a windows
installation" so I am not expecting any results! As for the damage disc
link, why didn't I think of that!
Thanks again, will post back results

asfar as a damaged cd, I have seen references about how to obtain lost or
damaged cd's, but I can't find it. I have to go to work, but I'll try
later.

Hi, I've tried the recovery console and it is now just shutting down. I get
the blue screen with unable to load .......... error code 32800. The drive
"clicks" before it shuts down. I am wondering if the hard drive is failing,
and the setup cant write to it as opposed to not being able to read from the
cd. I keep noticing the drive disappears from the bios! Any comments, and
possible suggestions to confirm this?
