Strange problem

New PC is working great. Installing stuff and network and printers etc
and testing.

Everything is great.

Come in today and when I go to start up Windows Screen comes up and
asks me to log in and I log in and Windows imediately goes thru the
shutdown sequence
"Windows is SHutting Down" no matter what user.

Safe mode does the same thing.

There is not time to do a shutdown -a at the DOS prompt.

Any ideas?

I guess a repair install is the only thing to do.

I could hook it to another PC but not sure what good it would do.

XP Pro, Netware Client, powertoys etc but nothing really funky.

Thanks for any tips

Michael

I have same problem on all other user accounts but mine(I am System
Administrator). I looked at the Event Viewer and there seems to be an Event
ID 59
for every non-sys.admin. login attempt. Resolve Partial Assembly failed for
Windows Common-controls. Access is denied. I tried changing other users to
Administrator accounts - didn't work. Deleted and recreated user accounts new
- didn't help. I hope this can be fixed without doing a full system restore.
Anyone?
