I currently have windows xp home. I just recieved windows
2000 professional from the course that I am taking. Is
there a way that I can run dual o/s without having to
reformat my hard drive.

How do I install Windows 2000 after I've installed Windows XP?

The only way you can create, delete, resize or merge existing partitions,
and not harm your existing Windows installation, is to purchase and use
a third-party partitioning program such as Partition Magic 8.

Along with the instructions provided by Carey, you could purchase Microsoft
Virtual PC or VMWare Workstation, which allows you to run multiple "guest"
operating systems (in your case, Windows 2000) from inside your "host"
operating system (Windows XP Home).
