XP Home won't startup....HELP!!

I get 20 vertical blue lines on the startup page and then the screen goes
dark and goes to sleep mode. Safe mode works fine. The system has worked
perfectly for several years. No new hardware or software was installed. I ran
anti virus and spyware and nothing was found. I tried to restore but no
effect. Since the monitor is fine in safe mode the problem seems to be
Windows based and it just began on 2/14/06. Can anyone help?

Have you tried 'Last Known Good Configuration' - same screen as access to
Safe Mode?
