I have XP Home edition and I would like to add a TV tuner to my computer. Is it wise to use a TV Tuner with Home edition, or better to have XP Media edition?

I have a TV turner in my Sony with Windows XP Home. No problem with using
it except that it is designed for cable not over the air use.

Could you elaborate at all on the cable thing? I have cable modem, does the tv cable come from another cable to the TV Tuner? Thanks for your help.

The MCE is only available with a MCE-enabled system (IOW you cannot buy it
retail). Not sure what you mean by "wise" I was using a TV card under 98.

tuner cards work fine I use the ATI all in Wonder cards abut there are
plenty around I just split my cable modem cable with a splitter and have one
go to the modem and one to the TV tuner. I can pause and record TV shows

Wayne posted on how to connect.

To reduce transmission loss, cable companies downshift the frequencies of
UHF stations from the frequency band actually transmitted by the UHF
station to a lower frequency band. The Sony TV tuner I have is designed
only for the frequency band used by cable companies not the over the air
frequency band used by UHF stations. The effect is that when connected to an
antenna, the tuner is limited to VHF TV stations.

As you have cable you should have no problem.
