I've got a Compaq 3045us laptop...XP-home came with it and multiple
additional app's. When I do an upgrade, about 34 minutes (so it says) from
the end while working on installing drivers, There is a Popup window that
says it is installing the video driver sis650... the display flickers 5
times during the driver popup loading process, reboots, then says that the
upgrade will restart.... when it gets to the driver , the same thing
happens, and the loop has started............ So, I did a clean install, it
works fine that way, however, I no longer have the additional apps, CD
burning software etc.... is there a command prompt command or script that
will keep it from trying to load a new video driver? Or is there another way
to keep the original software ... HP/Compaq is no help on this.......

Thanks in advance,
Mark

Well of course you don't - you're no longer using the OEM licence that HP
supplied! If you knew you required Pro why did you not specify that when you
ordered? And HP is under no longer under any obligation to assist you as
you're no longer using their software.
