XP Home SP2 upgrade help

We finally got Hi-speed internet at home, I updated the OS, XP Home, with
SP2, we waited until it was totally finished and the screen asked to reboot
, we re-booted ... now it will not boot up.

I have tried safe mode and start with the last known good startup ( not sure
of the exact words) any idea on how to get this to boot?

I can get to dos mode and see that all my files are there but I just cannot
get it to boot up.

You should use XP Professional. Get it free from LIMEWIRE or other BIT
TORRENT file servers. Install on your machine and problem gone forever.

Thanks but no thanks ....

I found the problem being an outdated BIOS ...... which means I will just do
an reinstall and not do the SP2 upgrade since Sony does not have a bios
upgrade

By the way, if you are interested in XP Pro, you CAN get it
on Ebay very inexpensively. I paid less than $60 for mine.

And it is guaranteed, as Ebay has an agreement with
Microsoft that if Ebay catches anyone selling bootleg
software, they prosecute.

And apparently the companies/ individuals who sell software
on ebay are required to insure against piracy.

That would be a good suggestion if it was legitimate and also if the OP
needed Windows XP Pro.
You are definitely wrong on the first and probably wrong on the second.
It seems you offered nothing valid.
 
sure get stolen software from those groups and maby get a virus or who knows
what from it guys like you are the ones who make the legit users look bad
and drive the prices up for us.

Balderdash.

There is zero difference in performance or stability between XP Home
and XP Pro. Both versions are compiled from the same source cod base.
The only differences are in certain functions and features which are
included with Pro but which are not part of Home. Unless there is a
actual or anticipated future need for one of these specific items
there is absolutely no advantage in upgrading from Home to Pro.

Could you stop giving wrong advice please. You count legally download
MS software from anywhere. PERIOD.
