Hi group,

I just build a new Samsung SP1614N harddrive into my computer, and every
time I start the computer WinXP Home requests to install a driver for the
harddisk. After I cancel the message, the harddisk works fine, but every
time I restart Windows asks for a driver again.
I´ve already talked to the Samsung costumer service, and they told me
they´ve never seen this message and of course there are no drivers for a
harddisk. So far, they couldn´t help me.

Does anyone know what to do to get rid of that driver message?

thanks in advance,
A.

Hi

Check the jumper setting
Set it to cable select if you are using a 40Pin 80 conductors cable
In BIOS, set the primary IDE channels to auto detect and enable DMA mode
If you are using an old 40 Pin cable, set the jumpers of the slave drive to slave and the master drive to master
In BIOS, set the primary IDE channels in correspond to the hard drives

Hope it helps

Pete
