Apologies in advance if I'm breaking any newsgrouo rules asking this
question.

I have had XP home service pack 1 running on my computer - it is a
fully activated product. Recently it on startup at the log in screen it
has started to ask if I want to register the product.
When clicking either Yes or No, it start to log in to the bliss
desktop then fails and returns to the login screen. It will boot in to
safe mode.

Can I edit the registry to allow me to either log in normally and
retain the existing activation code or log in deleting the code but
allow me to reactivate the OS.

Thanks in advance

Will

I don't know if it will be in one of these registry keys
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup
