I am using xp home addition. I have 3 computers on the network. THe main
computer works fine and the other 2 are networked. Yet, I am trying to use
all 3 that are networked with my hotel software "RoomMaster". I try to log
on from computers 2 and 3 to roomMaster and I get a message that says the
following.
You cannot open roommaster files in this directory. Either you do not have
full network rights to the directory or no file space is available. Error
acess is denied. File R:\standmsg.tps.
All 3 of these computers were networked with roommaster when my inn closed
for the season. However, I disconnected when I took the main computer home
for the winter to answer reservation calls. The ppl that sold me the
roommaster program will not help because they do not support windows xp home/
Any ideas.

I have gone to the files and sharing and shared the roommaster file on the
main computer, however, it still does not work.

Sabrina,

Sharing files thru the network from a server running XP Home is a pain. What is
the exact path of the Roomaster data folder, on the server? What is the exact
path of the share setup on the server, that you access from Computers 2 and 3?

XP Home, and Simple File Sharing, gives you limited ability to share files and
folders. Let's see if we can give you a solution. Be patient and persistent.

Hi Chuck,

Thanks for your help.
When I click on properties on the main computer is tells me that the target

On computer 2 and 3, the target is R:\rw5main.exe
THe location is c:\Documents and settings\owner\desktop

OK, Sabrina,

So you setup a share on the server to "C:\Roommaster". Did you make the
"C:\Roommaster" share read-write for everybody? That's basically all that you
can do with XP Home and Simple File Sharing, which is probably one reason why
the folks who sold you the software don't want to support it.

Is the Guest account activated for network access?

I'll try and help you figure out the problem, but you'll have to be patient with
me. And reply after my replies, please.
