Hi there all and happy new year . Now on with my small problem , I am running
XP home with two user accounts , both accounts work fine if you load them
first . However if I load my account first and then log off and try to go to
the other account , the computer just seems to stop (lock up) and I can't alt
, ctrl ,delete or escape . The only way to get out of it is to reset . Now
oddly enough it seems to do this only from my account , if I start the other
account first its ok . I have tried building a new account for myself and
deleting my old account but it still does the same thing . Any ideas ? I have
both accounts set as admin and both have use of all the software , I am
running service pack 1 and all critical updates except service pack 2 (
because I've heard there was still issues to work out with SP2 )

I have a similar concern that occurs when switching user accounts: when I
fast user switch from a limited to the admin user acct, my monitors goes
blank except for a warning from the monitor itself that resolution is out of
range. Because of this I have to use the power switch to shut down if I try
to switch to admin. It only happens going to the admin account, not admin to
limited or limited to limited. (I only have one admin account on computer).
Manufacturer (HP) had me remove printer driver and at the default generic
monitor settings it worked fine, but reinstalling driver goes back to
problem. Since computer was fairly new, with no irreplaceable software
installed, I didnt mind trying a system recovery, but problem was there again
as soon as I set up accouts and tried switching. I have SP2 preinstalled. I
wonder if our problems are from the same bug? Ther are programs the save
screen setting for different users, I may try that or just stay away from
fast user switching! Microsoft did address the resolution changing issue in
an article- but it seemed to suggest SP2 cured it? If you have any resolution
please post.

Thanks for the input Mike , I still have no clue . Its just a small problem ,
but I'm one of those fussy old goats that isn't happy unless everything on my
system works perfectly . If I come up with an answer I will post .

Just i case its related to vendor/manufacturer software and/or hardware and
not Windows itself, what are you running? I have an HP pavillion a749c,
running SP2, f1703 monitor.

Hi Mike , My computer is built from scratch -Asus P5AD2 mother board -Intel
3.2 and so on so I don't think vendor is the case but it was a good question .
