I am pretty sure we are infected with the Sasser virus. I cannot even open the simplist of things - i.e. Solitare. I can't connect to the internet or email to get any of the patches. I tried to defrag my c drive and I get an error stating not enough space to do a defrag. So I'm pretty sure that the virus has duplicated itself and has taken up my entire c drive. I can't even un-install anything. I am having problems deleting things as well - it takes forever (like 10 minutes to delete ~ 50 items). I am at a virtual stand still. Also, my modem ( I have Roadrunner) is in action continually - even though I am not connected. WHAT SHOULD I DO? The computer is only 3 months old. I am ready to through it out the window........

If THAT's the problem...

You might want to try running a virus scan on your computer....assuming you have one insatlled, if you kept the definition up to date it might pick up one or 2 virii that you can get rid of and possibly be in a better spot
after that see if you can connect. If you can, search for a product called stinger. it searches for about 40 different common virii and gets rid of them.
It's a step in the right direction.

The symptoms you describe are not typical of a Sasser infection but
there is obviously something wrong.

Download Stinger from http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger and run it to
clean the most common current viruses (including Sasser).

Also download, install, update and run AdAware (free) from
http://www.lavasoft.de to clean up any advertising spyware on your
machine. Pretty much anything that is flagged by AdAware is something
that should be deleted.

Good luck
