I would say I'm rather "late" upgrading to XP
(HomeEdition). Nonetheless, while in disk management, I
noticed that my C: partition is FAT(2GB w/700m free) and
my D: partition is FAT32(3.58GB, 3.58GB free).

Question #1, is it possible to change my C: partition to
FAT32?

Question #2, is it possible to "move" 1GB from my D:
partition to my c: partition?

I'm using a Presario 1200 XL-111 laptop with 1 internal HD.

Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

I have the upgrade CD and what appears to be an OEM CD as
well(both came with XP offer with new computer purchased 2
years ago).

With all the updates necessary, I'm now down to 300mb on
my C: drive.

Well I looked up some stuff and then asked some more
questions on this message board and here is what I got,

"Fdisk only creates and destroys partitions. You would
need something like
Partition Magic to resize the partitions without
destroying the existing
installation. To clean install with an upgrade disk, you
need to have either
an existing installation or a regular retail or OEM
version of a qualifying
OS on CD.

4GB is just way too small for WinXP, you won't have room
for much else, and
I can see where you may run into some performance
problems."

If you don't know what FDisk is, it is explained on this
page, http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?
scid=kb;en-us;313348.
Good Luck

You would have to use third party software. I'd use BootIT NG, from
http://www.BootitNG.com ($35 shareware - 30 day full functional trial)
consider whether to go the whole way and amalgamate the partitions.

Download, to its own folder, extract from the zip, run the bootitng to
make a boot floppy.

First move as much as you can from D to C

Boot the floppy, Cancel Install, entering maintenance, then click on
Partition work. Highlight the second partition (D:, use Resize to
shrink it as much as you can, then 'slide' it up so there is no space
after it, then highlight the C and resize to use the space that has been
released.

Boot back to XP and move as mush more as you can, and repeat until there
is nothing left in D, when on the last cycle you can delete it and make
C use the whole disk.

In the course of resizing up it will automatically convert C to FAT 32
once you go over 2GB
