Hi,
First, let me start by saying this may sound fishy, but I'm being totally
honest. Like everyone else when XP came out I bought it (upgrade) and had no
problems installing it. Well I kept my original Windows 98, ME, disks. But
now here comes the rub, I was getting rid of a ton of old software and must
have thrown away my original disks, because I no longer have them. I haven't
yet had the need to reinstall XP, but I know that day is coming soon. My
question is this, what are my options, because without those disks I can't
reinstall XP. I know that 1 option is to go out and dump $200.00 for the
full edition, but that sucks as I have supported MS all along. Is it
possible to use something like Norton Ghost and creating an Image of my hard
drive? If I do that will I need those disks? If I create an image what will
stay and what will I have to replace? I guess I could hit the thrift stores
and hope I run across a copy of the old disks.

Thanks for your time,
Al

You will need the old OS for a new installation of XP,You do not need the old OS
to do a "repair" installation of XP.
Norton Ghost would work for creating an image of your existing drive in case of
a malfunction where you would need to reinstall.....the image would work.It
creates an exact image of everything you have on that drive at that point in
time......go to the Norton website and it will explain it in more detail.

First, download and install Magic KeyFinder off the Internet (it's
free). It will provide you with your CD Key (that's what you really
purchased).

Now, all you need to do is get any XP Upgrade CD. If you registered and
activated the software with Microsoft, you can usually get a replacement
for $10.00.

Good luck.
