This is probably not the right NG but here goes, a colleague at work has
just bought a new PC pre loaded with XP Home, he says it keeps asking
him for his product key and he only has a few days left of his 30, how
does he find his product key, as the MS website doesnt give any clues,
he says he has the official disc with the official licence key sticker
on the side, any ideas what he should do ? what is this 2nd product key
for ?

TIA

There is just the one product key - the one he has, what the system is
asking him to do is register it with Microsoft under his name. Click on
that balloon that pops-up and follow the prompts.

Problems with a brand new computer can be resolved
by contacting the support department of the manufacturer
of the computer and asking for assistance.

The Product Key should be in one of two places. There
should be a holographic sticker somewhere on the cpu case
or laptop bottom with a 25-digit alpha-numeric product
key. The other place is on the CD case or envelope that
the Windows XP CD comes in. You can go to
www.howtotell.com for more information.
