Folks:

I am using a LapTop that runs Windows XP Home Edition.

I would like to have my LapTop join a windows network DOMAIN (not
workGroup). I notice that after I Right Click on My Computer, there are no
options for joining a domain. Is there a way to solve this problem ?

Also I would like to install IIS6.0 on my XP Home platform. How to solve
this problem ?

Thanks,
John.

Hi, John. The things you want to do aren't available in XP Home. You
will have to upgrade to Pro.

To slove this problem upgrade to XP Pro. XP home cannot, is not able to,
join a domain. You can use file shares on the domain you just can't join.

XP Home cannot join a domain nor run IIS. You will need to upgrade to XP
Professional.

Greetings --

To solve both of your problems, upgrade to WinXP Pro.

WinXP Home is not designed to, nor can it truly be made to, join a
domain.

Further, WinXP Home cannot support IIS.

Neither is possible in Home: they are both facilities supported only in
Pro (as being for corporate systems, and hence a justification of the
price difference)
