XP HE crash

New Sony VAIO with HE. Got msg "c:\windows\system32
\config\system is absent or corrupt"
I found the article 307545, but cant get to command
prompt to apply it.
Tried booting from the 6 floppies, but got crash blue
screen of death.
Can't get to recovery.
I can restore to factory specs, but will lose all
programs/configurations/data.
What to do?

If you have a full XP CD you can do a in place Repair Install to fix
the error.

If you want to get DAta off, get NTFS4DOS from
http://www.winternals.com and put it on a bootable floppy disk and
then you can get access to your data on your hard disk.
